Orthodontics for Children
While there is no exact age for children to begin orthodontic treatment, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends visiting the orthodontist around age seven.
By this age, most children have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, making it easier for the orthodontist to diagnose and plan for the best timing for correction.
Most children don't need early orthodontic treatment, but an early evaluation is a great way to introduce them to the orthodontic office and give you peace of mind that their orthodontic growth and development is clicking along normally.
If we do recommend an interceptive treatment, it is designed to provide a good foundation for future growth and development. These treatments are typically short-term, 4-12 months, can be done with braces or aligners and are a pretty fun experience for the kids! This treatment is followed by the same growth and development checks as many other kids not quite ready for orthodontics.
Another benefit is that simple growth and development checkups are followed annually or semi-annually free of charge and when treatment is timed correctly, we can achieve great results with a single course of treatment due to our skillful approach and progressive technology!
